Having worked on documentaries about firefighters and martial artists to narratives about EMTs resuscitating a child, I find the most rewarding aspect of creating visual media the interaction with other people. Whether the subjects of a documentary, actors, or people critiquing your work, the interaction serves as a constant source of inspiration for new ideas.
The process of developing a plan and seeing a project come to fruition should always be viewed as a learning process so that the next project can built on the successes of previous projects. To me, the most exciting moment is when an image is captured because it represents the first culmination in a project as a result of planning and interaction with others. I also enjoy editing, because it is an opportunity to reshape the first moment of excitement when the footage was captured.
